Mentorship & Internship
The Multimedia Arts & Design Academy at Santa Barbara High School believes that both students and the community benefit from students' involvement in real-world experiences in multimedia arts. The California Partnership Academy guidelines also require participation in community service and internships in the area of the academy's focus: multimedia technologies including digital video, digital imaging, animation, and web-site management and design. The Academy actively supports and follows this guideline.
Mentorships
The Academy is developing a community network of local people experienced in video, digital imaging, computer design, web-site design and management, who are willing to devote a few hours per month to teach, guide, and counsel students interested in their areas of expertise. The mentor/student relationship is one of the most effective methods of introducing our students to these rapidly developing businesses. It is rewarding for both mentor and student.
Internships
Academy students are placed in internships with local multimedia companies, organizations and businesses. These students bring with them their Academy training, eagerness to learn, enthusiasm and energy. The business discovers the well-trained talent they need, while the student gains real-world experience.
